๐Ÿ’ก Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about GlucoSpike AI? We have answers. Learn how our food coach helps you understand meals, predict spikes, and build better habits.

What's the purpose of GlucoSpike AI?

GlucoSpike AI shows you the impact of your meal before you eat โ€” using a photo or quick log. Get macro breakdown in 5 seconds, personalized tips, and the clarity to make informed choices every meal.

What do Great, Okay, and Improve mean?

We show glucose impact in three levels:

  • ๐Ÿ‘ Great: Your blood sugar likely stayed steady. Excellent meal choice!
  • ๐Ÿ‘Œ Okay: A moderate impact that could be improved with small tweaks.
  • ๐Ÿ‘Ž Improve: This meal may cause a significant spike. Consider our suggestions for next time.

How do I log a meal?

You can either snap a meal photo for instant analysis or use Quick Log to type naturally like "1 cup of coffee" or "chicken salad." You can also reuse past meals or choose from favorites.

What's the meal hint field for?

Use it to add extra info like portion size, ingredients, or how it was cooked. This improves prediction accuracy and helps our AI give you better guidance.

What is the Meal Response Curve?

It's a visual curve (0โ€“150 min) estimating how your blood sugar may respond to that meal based on glycemic load and other factors. Remember, your actual response may vary based on stress, sleep, activity, and other factors.

Can I see meals from past days?

Yes! Check the Meal History to view photos, macro breakdowns, spike impact, and summaries. Everything is organized by day so you can see patterns over time.

What are meal streaks?

They show how many days in a row you have logged meals. Start with a 3-day streak and build consistency. Small habits compound into big changes.

Can I track calories and macros?

Absolutely. Each meal shows estimated protein, carbs, fats, fiber, and total calories, along with daily summaries. But we focus on blood sugar impact, not just calories.

I already use a calorie tracker. Why use this?

Most trackers focus solely on calories and weight loss with classroom-style grading. GlucoSpike is your food coach focused on blood sugar impact, meal balance, and building sustainable habits without judgment.

I use a CGM. Do I still need this app?

CGMs tell you what happened after you eat. GlucoSpike helps you make better decisions before eating by predicting meal impact. Many people use both together.

Can I connect my CGM here?

Not yet. We aim to keep things simple and stress-free with no extra hardware. Your phone and good habits are enough to make progress.

Who should use GlucoSpike?

Anyone who wants to eat smarter, especially people with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, PCOS, high cholesterol, or those on a health journey. Also great for anyone tired of obsessive calorie counting.

When should I use the app?

Use it before meals to check impact, while shopping to compare options, after eating to reflect, or whenever you wonder: "Should I eat this?" Build it into your routine naturally.

Do I need a glucose monitor or wearable?

No. GlucoSpike AI uses food science and AI to understand the impact of your meal on your energy โ€” no devices, sensors, or finger pricks needed. Just your phone.

How accurate are the predictions?

We aim for 80-85% prediction consistency based on current models. Remember, your actual response may differ based on stress, sleep, activity, medications, and individual metabolism. This is guidance, not personalized medical data.

Is this a medical device?

No. GlucoSpike AI is a wellness tool that provides general food-based insights. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Always consult your healthcare provider for medical advice.

What's the difference between GlucoSpike and a CGM?

CGMs (continuous glucose monitors) show real-time glucose with a wearable sensor at $200โ€“$400/month. GlucoSpike shows estimated glucose impact for any meal, instantly, on your phone, for $40/year. CGM = precision medical device (if you need it, get it). GlucoSpike = pattern discovery + coaching. They work together โ€” many of our users use both.

What does "insulin resistant" mean, and how does GlucoSpike help?

Insulin resistance means your body doesn't respond well to insulin. When you eat carbs, your pancreas works overtime, you crash hard, and your body stores meals as fat. GlucoSpike helps by showing you exactly which meals cause this in YOUR body, giving you 3 swaps per meal (protein, fiber, fat timing), and helping you build a stable meal playbook. Most users see energy and weight improvements in 3โ€“4 weeks.

I'm on medication. Is GlucoSpike right for me?

Yes. GlucoSpike shows how YOUR meals interact with YOUR medication. Some meals work better with your meds than others โ€” we help you find them. Important: don't change your medication without talking to your doctor. GlucoSpike is your food coach. Your doctor is your medication coach.

I scored 3 meals but don't see a 'pattern' yet. What should I do?

One meal is a data point. Three meals is a trend. Keep scoring: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. By day 7 (7 meals scored), you'll see patterns like 'I crash after white bread but not whole grain' or 'pasta + protein keeps me stable, but pasta alone crashes me.' Patterns emerge by day 7โ€“10. Score consistently. Trust the data.

Does GlucoSpike work for weight loss?

Yes, but not as a calorie counter. It works because you discover which meals store fat vs. burn fat, you add protein + fiber (naturally reduces cravings), you build consistency (patterns stick, habits form), and you stop guessing (confidence reduces emotional eating). Weight loss follows naturally from stable glucose. No restriction needed.
